June is a 12/3 (6 (June) + 6 (2022) = 12 = 1+2 =3) Universal Month in a 6 Universal Year. In numerology, 3 is the number of creation and togetherness; three is a number that brings to mind all of the things that it takes more than two to do: everything from the smallest of families (two parents plus a baby) to the grand soiree. This is in alignment with the energy of our Sun in Gemini but somewhat at odds with the overall energy of a month filled with retrogrades. There may be a push-pull element to June, a feeling of being pushed to go out and be social while also being pulled back into solitude – if this is something that you struggle with throughout the month of June, know that you are right on time.
Though we are now in the third spring sign, it is only now that all of our personal planets have caught up to coexist together in Aries, Taurus, and Gemini. Our Sun is going to spend most of the month in Gemini (as will Mercury, Venus will transition from Taurus into Gemini by month’s end, and Mars is joined up with Jupiter in fiery Aries. Throughout June, we might have a fire lit under our asses to get where we’ve been going but there still seems to be a social snafu holding us up. There are changes to be made, alliances gained, and new pacts forged. Social Gemini is never willing to stand on the sideline for too long. If you can tap into the deep beating heart of Venus in Taurus, great things can be accomplished in the month of June. If you’re going too fast to slow down, you’ll likely miss the party.
The Set-Up
We begin the month with Sun in Gemini, retrograde Mercury Venus Uranus and the North Node in Taurus, Mars and Jupiter in Aries, Saturn in Aquarius, Neptune in Pisces, and retrograde Pluto in Capricorn. Over the course of the month, Mercury and Venus will enter Gemini and the Sun will have crossed over Midsummer and into the water sign of Cancer. Additionally, Mercury stations direct and Saturn and Neptune will retrograde. This Saturn retrograde is the big news of the month, and it sets the tone for the month as a whole.
The Nitty Gritty
We begin the month with a waning conjunction between Mars and Jupiter in early Aries. Aries is the home sign of our warrior planet which does little to mitigate the energy of the fighting spirit that Mars has acquired since January on his side-by-side march with recently retrograded Venus through steadfast Capricorn and rebellious Aquarius. At best, the amplification of Jupiter’s impact lit a fire under somebody’s ass to get that idea made rather than just becoming another arsonist. This is Three of Swords weather, so lay low and don’t pick that fight if you aren’t prepared with bulletproof armor. The Mars-Jupiter conjunction went exact on 5/29 but will be further amplified on the 1st of June when Mars in Cancer squares off with these two planets.
Tempers are hot and the moon doesn’t bring enough water to cool things off. Or…does she? Maybe that’s a problem, too – I can hear the steam sizzle now. The haze is real – all of the energy of the week is leading up to our two major energy shifts of the month (Mercury stationing direct and Saturn stationing retrograde) which will happen back to back on Friday and Saturday. When planets change directions, life gets nebulous and hard to pin down. That Mercury and Saturn are both changing directions while being closely square to one another (Mercury will station at 26° Taurus and Saturn at 25° Aquarius) shows that part of the lesson of Mercury’s retrograde cycle will be carried on throughout Saturn’s. Notably, Mercury is also relatively close to our North Node at 22 Taurus which shows that what is coming up right now still holds some of the fated feelings of this past eclipse cycle as well.
Saturn rules time and exactitude – he carries an air of fate as The Lesson with him at all times. He is the relentless march of time, the endless and inevitable change wrought by water carving its way through stone. While retrograde, we might expect the mood to lighten a bit as his energy becomes somewhat harder to contact (especially while Jupiter, his counterpart, is in direct motion). The isn’t necessarily a good thing, we need the weight of Saturn, that’s what steers our boat. Beware the listless energy of a Gemini who has lost sight of the call to adventure and newness in every day.
The weekend is going to be fiery but you’re as likely to burn your own home down as go anywhere. The Moon in Leo will make a trine to Mars and Jupiter but a square to Venus whose trying to get comfortable in the earthy sign of Taurus. There’s the rub, the conflict (but also the balm) of this entire month. With so much fire and air energy, we need the balance and down-to-earthiness that Venus is going to provide, but we may not like her very much.
We’ve been feeling the conflict between Air and Earth for quite some time – we had a series of squares between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus all last year. Though Saturn has somewhat moved on, we will begin to feel the conflict of this Irresistible Force Paradox as Saturn begins to move backward reactivating his Immovable Object square to Uranus’s Unstoppable Force. This tension is going to mount over the next two months and crescendo in Leo Season when our fixed fire sun will force a t-square in the sky with Saturn and Uranus. Even if you thought that the danger has passed, something has got to give. Saturn and Uranus will not achieve an exact square this time around, but the energy will be intense nonetheless.
If you’re sensitive to it (maybe you have planets in the mid-ranges of the fixed signs or you’re chart is ruled by Saturn or Uranus, or you are just sensitive to the planets in general) you may begin feeling this energy build up as early as 6/5 when the moon in Leo opposes Saturn and squares Uranus. This is a day to stay aware: write down what comes up for you. How does it relate to what happened in 2021? Is this something that you can settle up BEFORE late July/early August?
The first full week of June may just be weird: Venus will be meeting up with Uranus at 16 Taurus on Saturday and the energy seems to build all week. Newly direct Mercury makes an earth trine with retrograde Pluto for the third and final time so there may be some unfinished business to attend to. Be where you are, enjoy the company you find yourself in, and love the one you’re with. The energy of Mercury combined with Pluto and Venus conjunct Uranus is very nebulous – you may find yourself surprised as to where you’ve ended up. Dig in and enjoy it – there’s not much else that you can do.
Mercury re-enters Gemini on Monday 6/13 and the energy early in the week is centered around our full moon at 25° Sagittarius. The Sun will be in a watery trine to recently retrograded Saturn and square to nebulous Neptune in Pisces, so don’t expect to know what’s going on or where you are going. Again, enjoy the journey. Don’t force things. Don’t let our Aries Mars get so focused on getting there that you forget that the journey was the point the whole time. Tensions may be higher over the weekend as the square between Venus in Taurus and retrograde Saturn goes exact. Mercury also exits their post-retrograde cycle on that day: stay open to the reveal.
The Sun enters Cancer on 6/21 – Happy Midsummer! Venus forms a quick trine with retrograde Pluto in Capricorn (who she conjuncted thrice during her own retrograde cycle in Capricorn last June) before entering the sign of Gemini the next day. Beware the fickleness of Venus in Gemini, with nothing holding her back, she is likely to create some mayhem. Or, better yet, embrace the mayhem.
The rest of the month is nebulous as Neptune stations retrograde on 6/27 at 25° Pisces. Mars makes a quick sextile to Saturn in Aquarius but we likely won’t even feel it with the overweight of endless nothingness. Prepare to meet the void. Our 07° Cancer new moon is on 6/28 and will involve an exact cardinal t-square with Jupiter in Aries. Watch out for excess, especially of a personal nature – it may offend those closest to you during this time.
Again, we find ourselves back on that theme. What is more important – togetherness or the separateness of our own journeys? You may find yourself on either end of this debate this month, likely both. Take it in stride. Eat a good meal and enjoy where you are. Don’t pick that fight unless you want or need to win.
