This is stolen lovingly (with permission) from my coven mate Gray who is has a Sun-Moon conjunction in Pisces. Like anything from the mouth of a Pisces, this list should be taken quite literally or as wibbly-wobbly as you wish, per your own whims.
1. Get dressed up for no one in particular
2. Pour one out for the fairies and spirits
3. Play in the rain
4. Scry in a puddle
5. Infuse a bottle of liquor with the emotions of the day
6. Drink to every spirit in the house
Gray wrote this on a dreary and very rainy day last September so your experience may vary. But it really put me in the mood for a Pisces full moon which should always, regardless of the weather, be a watery day. I wanted to touch on each of these suggestions because they offer limitless possibilities for ritual and play. What could be better than that?
Get Dressed Up For No One in Particular
The Pisces Moon has some OG glam girl vibes – I think of the kind of gal who is wearing that fur coat because she loves that it makes her look fabulous not because she cares what somebody else thinks of her. What type of clothing makes you feel that way? Whether you want to feel strong, or soft, beautiful, or terrifying doesn’t matter so long as you do it all for yourself. The Pisces Full moon encourages us to be flamboyantly ourselves.
Pour One Out for the Fairies and Spirits
Now that you’ve made yourself yourself, it’s time to pay respect for all of your house spirits. Gray is an animist and their fairies and spirits certainly get booze (often saki) but you should give your house spirits and spirit friends whatever you are most accustomed to giving them. Food works well here, too.
In my house, the offering during the fall most often consists of a cup of tea, whiskey, and bouquets of flowers at each altar. Sometimes we offer a small part of our meals but we have cats so it’s difficult to keep food out for any length of time.
The Pisces full moon is a great time to reconnect with your spirit friends and start a devotional practice. You could lay out a clean shot glass of water for your garden spirits, or bring in something pretty from your walks for the altar. My Nana likes sweets so I buy her seasonal candy. This is all about connection, do what intuitively feels right to you.
Play in the Rain
Here experience may vary but remember that you can make your own rain. Gray is all about the bath magic but I am going to opt for a shower/rain ritual with a Cut & Clear bath scrub made with botanicals from my garden. You can use the watery energy of the Pisces Full Moon for all sorts of water magic.
Moreover, though, play is the important word in that suggestion. Do something frivolous under the light of the Pisces full moon just to remind yourself that wonder is never wrong. Really lean into the moment. Taste it. Smell it. Hear it. Engage all of your senses.
Scry in a Puddle
Divination is always a wonderful activity under the light of the full moon and this full moon pulls in the energy of Neptune, Pisces’s planetary ruler, to aid in the deep energy. If you cant find a puddle to scry in, you could make one with a black bowl, water, and some candlelight. Or break out those cards or your rune set if that’s your fancy.
Infuse liquor/water with your emotions of the day
Though, as you would know if you’ve been following along for long, I am very fond of alcohol infusions I think that I will be making a botanical wash for my house for this upcoming Pisces new moon. This has been my go-to for water magic since I don’t connect with the water element as well – add in my favorite herbs and I can get there! There’s really not a day like a water full moon on a Moonday to wash, wash your troubles away.
Drink With Every God in the House
Again, advise that you should do what is right for you in your own practice. The Bog Witch coven is quite wet (our name sort of implies it). If that’s not your thing, great! You should never feel a need to include anything in your practice that doesn’t feel right for you.
That said, the Pisces moon is quite watery and if your Gods like booze like my Gods do, this is a perfect day to get a little giggly with your altars. How I did this was a drank a shot of something that I had in my house to each of the Gods that I work with regularly (spoiler alert: it wasn’t all booze). This wasn’t like a night out in college, I did this over a couple of hours as I wandered around cleaning my house. It was nice to reconnect with each and really think about, what do you want to drink today?
